Grad (^{g}, or gr, or grd), also called grade, gradian, or gon is a unit of angle measurement in the centesimal system, in which a right angle is divided into 100 centesimal degrees (grads). Thus one grad is equal to 1/400 of a turn. This unit is the English version of French grade and it was proposed by engineers around 1900.
