Flat is an infromal unit of angle measure equal to the angle of the equilateral triangle (60 degrees), or one sextant (1/6 circle). For example a hex nut have 6 flat sides. So to turn the nut "one flat" is to turn it 1/6 revolution.

Gon (^g) is a unit of angle measurement equal to 1/400 circle. It is exactly the same with unit grad and it is used in languages such as German, in which the word grad means degree. It's name is taken from the ancient Greek word "γωνια", angle.
