Petabit (Pbit) is a unit of information in computing and telecommunications equal to 1015 bits, defined by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in December 1998. Petabit is confused with pebibit which is defined as 1024 tebibits. The difference between them is that petabit is a power of 10 number and pebibit power of 2.

Terabyte (TB) is a unit of information equal to 10004 bytes, defined by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in December 1998. However, when referred to main memory or RAM capacity TB is equal to 10244 bytes, but this should now be called a tebibyte.
